Where London’s Nights Out Get a Proper Pit Stop
Villiers Street runs between the Strand and the Embankment, and it’s been one of central London’s most walked streets since before anyone alive can remember. Thunderbird has been on it since 2017 — the original London location, still the busiest one. It sits between Charing Cross and Embankment stations, which means pretty much everyone walking between the West End and the river passes the door at some point. Covent Garden is ten minutes away. Trafalgar Square is five. Leicester Square is about the same.
The menu is the full eleven recipes. The Thunderbun is what most first-timers order. The Chipuffalo wings are what most people order when they come back. Hand-breaded, 12-hour brined, fried to order — same standard as every other Thunderbird, just with more history behind it.
Open until 1am Friday and Saturday, which makes it one of the more useful spots in WC2 once the rest of the street winds down.
Eat In or Get It Delivered
Eat in on Villiers Street or order through Deliveroo, Uber Eats, or Just Eat for delivery across WC2, Covent Garden, and the surrounding areas. The Thunderbun does just fine in a bag. The wings are better eaten on the spot.
